New license management system in GLview Inova

With version 9.0 of GLview Inova we introduced FLEXnet license control.

For a smooth transition to the new license control system, we recommend that you make a test installation of GLview Inova 9.0 using an evaluation license key. An evaluation license key can be requested from the download area on our web site. After verification, you can request a permanent license key from sales@ceetron.com. Please read the following sections to find out what information you need to provide with your request.

Available types of licenses

Two different types of licenses are available:

Node locked license. With this type of license, one seat for GLview Inova is limited to be used on one specific computer. This type of license does not require a license server to be available and is a good option for users that need to have GLview Inova available when the computer is not connected to the company network.
Floating license. With this type of license, one or more seats for GLview Inova is made available to a group of users by setting up a license server - any computer that can communicate with the license server will be able to request a seat for GLview Inova. The number of concurrent users will be limited by the number of seats that are available in the license file.

Required information to generate a license file

For all types of licenses, the Host ID of the computer that will manage the license is needed - in case of a node locked license this is the computer that GLview Inova will be installed on, in case of a floating license this is the computer where the license server will be running.

The Host ID of a computer is the MAC address of the (main) network card on the computer. If GLview Inova version 9.x is already installed on the computer, the Start-menu entry "Host ID for GLview Inova licenses..." will extract this information for you.

For a node locked license, the Host ID is all the information we need to generate the license file.

If a floating license is required, we also need the host name or the IP-address of the license server to generate a license file.
