Simulation engineers spend a substantial amount of time writing & rewriting reports, yet most existing CAE tools have limited support for this activity. Most CAE tools have features that provide fragmented output; content exported to multiple folders, files and formats. It is true that some CAE tools provide HTML formatted reports, but these reports tend to be cumbersome to extend and reformat, usually have static content and layout and very limited support for templates.

At the same time, most engineering companies have the MS Office suite installed on most of their computers, and can use these tools for documentation and report generation. Recently, OpenOffice has also emerged as a very viable, free alternative. Still, existing CAE tools have limited integration to MS Office and Open Office.
